Costs and Fees to have a Live-in caregiver

Most newly arrived live-in nannies charge minimum wage, (for a family with 2 children). Employers may deduct $325/month from wages for room and board. Nannies are required by law to work no less than 40 hours/ week in British Columbia. Any additional hours worked should be paid out at an overtime rate of time and a half. The employer is responsible to pay taxes every month to Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
